Founded in 2015 by college friends and University of Miami graduates Paul Massard and Chris Nolte, Per’La Specialty Roasters is a coffee wholesale and ecommerce store focused on rare, highly-graded coffees from a rotating list of origins chosen based on both quality and seasonality.  All of the coffees in the Per’La portfolio consistently score above an 85 on the coffee grading scale with several of the offerings grading into the 90s.  Each coffee is roasted to order to ensure maximum freshness, flavor, and aroma. Consistency and a high flavor profile are also delivered with Per’La’s 15 Kilo Loring Coffee Roaster which is the most technologically advanced roaster on the market today.  The Loring is also the most energy and fuel efficient roaster among similar sized roasters.  At full capacity, Per’La can roast over 1000Lbs of coffee per shift.  In addition to coffee roasting, Per’La is able to assist clients in blend customization, barista education, and menu development.

  • Paul Massard - Co-Founder/Managing Partner - A Certified Q Grader by the Coffee Quality Institute, one of roughly 350 in the US, brings 11 years of extensive coffee procurement, roasting, grading, farming, and production experience. Paul most recently held the position of Director of Supply Chain for Honolulu Coffee Company overseeing all farming, processing, roasting, production/packaging, quality assurance, and purchasing departments. Previous to Paul's time at Honolulu Coffee, he spent 5 years as the green coffee buyer, production manager, and quality assurance manager at The Roasterie in Kansas City. Paul Massard is a 2005 graduate of the University of Miami with a degree in International Finance and Marketing as well as a 2009 graduate of Florida Gulf Coast University's Executive MBA Program. 

     


  • Chris Nolte - Co-Founder/Managing Partner - Brings to Per’La Specialty Roasters an extensive background in business development, branding, and marketing from a variety of industries including hospitality, healthcare, and logistics.  He specializes in large, multi-site product implementations that require everything from needs assessments and product selections to staff education and quality testing. Chris has a true passion for enhancing the customer experience while helping businesses grow their bottom line.  Chris Nolte is a 2005 graduate of the University of Miami with a degree in International Finance and Marketing and has lived in Miami for nearly 15 years.

Coffee Sourcing Philosophy

Whenever possible, Per’La Specialty Roasters engages in direct-trade agreements with farmers at origins.  This ensures the highest amount of transparency and directly rewards producers who harvest the highest quality of beans.  In some cases Per’La purchases coffee micro lots that have been submitted for judging and been awarded highly when ranked against their peers.
